Jamsheed 'Silvan'
Syrah, 2009
Australia Red
Yarra Valley 75cl
Cool climate Shiraz is all the rage in Australia. I am yet to be convinced by many. Jamsheed seem to be getting a lot of press, it's attractively packaged, so worth a crack. From red soils and made with a high percentage of whole bunches. Unfined and unfiltered, 13%. Red fruits, black pepper, spice and some oak on the nose, fresh, with a hint of herbaceous green too. It's young, but really quite appealing, black and red fruits, pepper and spice with creamy oak and good tannins. Bright and not lacking, again a hint of greeness coming through, but adds a touch of compllexity.
